The „Hoernle“ – Crest of the 260th Infantry Division

On 31st May 1940 by divisional order all vehicles had to carry a new distinctive mark. That was necessary to differ the vehicles when they used the same advance routes.

The „Hoernle“ was chosen, a modification of the deer antlers found in the royal blazonry of Wuerttemberg.

It had to be put on all vehicles of the division.

On 19th December 1942, the 12th army corps gave orders for new symbols, the popular „Hoernle“ disappeared.

The new symbol was a big „R“
